Course piracy prevention encompasses the technical and strategic measures educators use to stop unauthorized sharing of their paid content. The piracy spectrum: At one end, simple screen recording by a student who shares with friends. Prevention layers (from basic to advanced): Login-required access (stops casual sharing but easily bypassed), domain-locked video embedding (prevents embedding on other sites), video watermarking with student ID (creates accountability), DRM encryption (prevents downloading), screen recording detection (blocks capture tools), and forensic watermarking (traces leaks to specific accounts). No system is 100% piracy-proof, but layered protection makes piracy difficult enough that most people choose to pay instead. The goal isn't perfection — it's raising the effort required to pirate above the effort of just buying the course.
