Affiliate Marketing for Courses
Affiliate marketing for courses is a growth strategy where you incentivize existing students, influencers, or partners to promote your courses in exchange for a commission on each sale they generate. It's word-of-mouth marketing with tracking and payment built in. Typical commission structures for Indian course creators: 10-20% of course price for student referrals, 20-30% for influencer/affiliate partners, flat ₹200-₹500 per referral for low-ticket courses, and tiered commissions (higher % for top-performing affiliates). Why it works for coaching: Indian students trust peer recommendations over ads. A UPSC student telling their study group 'this coaching platform is worth it' converts 5-10x better than an Instagram ad. By giving that student a referral link and ₹500 per signup, you turn every satisfied student into a sales channel. Implementation requirements: unique referral links per affiliate, automatic commission tracking, commission payout system (ideally via UPI), and an affiliate dashboard showing clicks, conversions, and earnings. If your course platform doesn't have built-in affiliate tracking, you'll need a third-party tool — adding complexity and cost. When evaluating platforms, check whether affiliate/referral features are included or require add-ons.
