A simple flow for Indian coaches: from "Sir, price kya hai?" to a paid, enrolled student, without typing the same answers fifty times.
"Sir, Price Kya Hai?"
You post about your new batch. Within the hour, your WhatsApp fills up. "Sir, price kya hai?" "Timing kya hai?" "Kya recording milegi?" "Is it for beginners?"
You answer each one, one by one. By evening you've typed the same five answers thirty times, someone's sent a payment screenshot you haven't checked, and you've lost track of who actually said yes.
WhatsApp is a brilliant place to start conversations with students. It's a terrible place to run the entire sale.
Why WhatsApp Works for Coaches
- Everyone already uses it, so there's nothing new for a student to learn.
- It feels personal. A message from you carries more trust than an anonymous ad.
- Questions get answered fast, which matters when someone is deciding.
Where It Quietly Goes Wrong
- Answering the same questions by hand, every time.
- Sending long messages with five links and no clear next step.
- Collecting payment as screenshots and verifying them manually.
- Adding people to groups without asking, which feels like spam.
- Losing track of who is interested, who paid and who needs a follow-up.
The Simple Idea: WhatsApp Is the Front Door, Not the Whole Building
Use WhatsApp for what it's great at: starting a conversation and answering questions. Then send the student to one clear page where they can read the details, pay, and get access. Don't try to run the classroom and cash counter inside a chat.
The 5-Step Flow
Step 1. Give people one easy way in. Put a single WhatsApp link in your Instagram bio, your posts and your Status, with a pre-filled message like "Hi, I'd like to know about the [course name] batch." It tells you exactly what they're asking about.
Step 2. Save your top five answers. Price, who it's for, timings, what's included and how to join. The WhatsApp Business app has a quick replies feature for exactly this. Write each answer once, clearly, and reuse it.
Step 3. Send one link, not ten messages. After a short, warm reply, send one link to your course page, which holds the details, the price and the way to pay. One clear next step converts better than a long explanation.
Step 4. Take payment on the page, not in the chat. UPI and card payment on the page means no screenshots, no manual checking, and the student gets access straight away.
Step 5. Follow up once, politely. If someone was interested and went quiet, send one friendly message a day or two later. Not five.
Rules to Stay Welcome in People's Phones
- Message only people who've asked, or who've agreed to hear from you. This applies to broadcast lists too.
- Don't add people to groups without asking first.
- Make it easy to opt out, and respect it when someone does.
- Send fewer, better messages. One useful update beats five reminders.
- Follow WhatsApp's own business messaging policies, and use approved tools if you use the Business API.
Content That Sells on WhatsApp
A short demo clip. A one-minute taste of how you teach.
A clear syllabus. One simple list or image of what's covered.
A student result. Only with the student's permission, and in their words.
A countdown reminder. For a free workshop, a reminder a day before and a couple of hours before is usually enough.
WhatsApp Business App or API?
Start with the free WhatsApp Business app. It's enough for most coaches to begin, with quick replies, labels and a business profile. The API is for larger setups that need automation and team inboxes, and it works through approved providers. Move to it only when your volume genuinely needs it.
Where Skolasti Fits
The link you send on WhatsApp should land somewhere that does the heavy lifting. With Skolasti, your course page, UPI and card payments and your classroom live under your own brand. So when a student says yes on WhatsApp, they can pay and start learning without waiting for you to send links and check screenshots.
The chat stays human, and the admin goes away.
The Real Win
You don't need to leave WhatsApp. You need to stop running your whole business inside it. Keep the conversation there, move the page, payment and access out of it, and your evenings come back.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I sell a course just by messaging people on WhatsApp?
You can start conversations there, but selling entirely inside chat creates manual work, like checking payments and sending access links. A course page with payment and access built in is easier for you and for the student.
Is it okay to send broadcast messages to everyone who ever messaged me?
It's better to message only people who've agreed to hear from you. Unwanted messages annoy people, can get your number reported, and go against WhatsApp's business policies.
Should I use the WhatsApp Business app or the API?
Start with the Business app. Consider the API only when you need automation and team inboxes, and use an approved provider.
Can I add students to a WhatsApp group?
Ask first. People are more likely to stay, and to pay attention, if they chose to join.
How often should I follow up with someone who didn't enrol?
Once or twice, politely, a day or two apart. After that, let them come back to you.
